Virtual Kameda Domain 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #10 Iwakura-ji Temple

In the Wamyo Ruijusho, namely Japanese Names for Things Classified and Annotated,  which was a Japanese dictionary compiled in 938, Ouchi Village was already listed.  It is unknown when Iwakura-ji Temple was founded in Shirayama Ouchisankawa, Yurihonjo, Akita 018-0731.  Judging from its place name, the temple could have been the shrine temple of Hakusan Shrine.  Shirayama and Hakusan share the same Chinese characters.  At the foot of the shrine, there stands a stone monument for visiting Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage.

It is unknown when Hakusan Shrine was invited to Ouchi Village.  Iwakura-ji Temple might have been abolished after the Meiji Restoration Government issued the Gods and Buddhas Separation Order in 1868.
