Virtual Kameda Domain 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #5 Sairin-ji Temple
It is unknown when Sairin-ji Temple was founded in Matsumoto Village, Yuri County. At the end of the Edo Period (1603-1868), Matsumoto Village was documented as part of the Kameda Domain, but it is unknown when the village was developed. As Sairin-ji Temple’s sango is Nozoki-san, Matsumoto village was part of Nozoki Village, which was first documented in 1612, and became independent from Nozoki Village sometime during the Edo Period presumably after the foundation of Sairin-ji Temple.
From 1625 to 1646, the output of the village decreased by about 20%. According to the document in 1646, there could have been a flood during those 2 decades.
There used to be Arasawa Village in the middle and upper reaches of the Imo River. The village bordered on Akotsu Village to the north, and bordred the Utetsu Village in the lower reaches of the river to the west. Arasawa literraly means New Mountain Stream. The village might have been fought for by the Akotsu and Utetsu Families. The village were separated into Nozoki, Kagasawa (Kagasawa, Yurihonjo, Akita 018-0841), Kutsubami, Nagasaka (Nagasaka, Yurihonjo, Akita 018-0853), Taki (Taki, Yurihonjo, Akita 018-0905), Noshinai (Noshinai Koguriyama, Yurihonjo, Akita 018-0903), Nakamata, Itaizawa (Itaizawa Nakatashiro, Yurihonjo, Akita 018-0901), Koguriyama (Koguriyama, Yurihonjo, Akita 018-0903), Urata (Urata Onakanosawa, Yurihonjo, Akita 015-0062), Kuzuoka (Kuzuoka, Yurihonjo, Akita 018-0852), Okurazawa (Okurazawa, Yurihonjo, Akita 018-0733), Fumoto (Fumoto Iwayafumoto, Yurihonjo, Akita 018-0726), Nakatashiro (Nakatashiro, Yurihonjo, Akita 018-0901), Masuzawa, Nakata, and Kawakura (Kawakura Iwanomezawa, Yurihonjo, Akita 018-0904) Villages by the end of the Warring States Period (1467-1568).
