Virtual Kameda Domain 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #6 Yoden-ji Temple

Yoden-ji Temple was founded in Iwaya Village, Yuri County, in 1405 as a branch of Shobo-ji Temple in Mutsu Province.

Oi Masatomo (?-1483) was based in Oi Fortress in Shinano Province.  He was completely defeated on August 24th, 1479.  His brother, Awamaru, barely succeeded to the headship of the family, but Oi Fortress fell on February 27th, 1484.  Oi Tomoharu, who could have been a vassal of Masatomo, judging from their name, fled north and arrived at Arasawa Village, Yuri County, after 1532.  He called his family Iwaya.  The Iwaya Family ruled Iwaya and Hiraguki (Hiraguki, Yurihonjo, Akita 018-0851) Villages.

Iwaya Tomoshige (?-1646) was dismissed in 1622 and moved to Hitachi Province, counting on the Akit Family, who ruled the Shishido Domain in Ibaraki County, Hitachi Province.

However, Tomoshige's grave was built at the foot of Iwaya Fortress, and Yoden-ji Temple has taken good care of it.
