Virtual New Mutsu 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #15 Kesoku-ji Temple
Kasoku-ji Temple was founded in 807 with a Horse-Headed Hayagriva image enshrined. Iji or Korehari Fortress was built in 767, and Iji or Korehari County was organized soon. In the county, however, military rule was imposed by the Imperial Army. The Imperial Army's fortresses were located in the west of Kitakami River. It took about 4 decades for the Imperial Army to expand their rule to the east of the river.
