Virtual New Mutsu 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #14 Daiji-ji Temple

It is unknown when Daiji-ji Temple was founded.  Tradition says it was founded by Fujiwara Hidehira (1122-1187).  As the New Mutsu 33 Kannon Pilgrimage was organized in 1123, Hidehira seems to be too young to found the temple.  If his father, Motohira (1105-1157), had founded the temple, that could sound reasonable.  Motohira is said to have built Amida-do, Shaka-do, and Joroku-do Halls in Jion-ji Temple in 1108.  He seems too young too.  Did their fathers build halls and found a temple for their sons to celebrate their Seven-Five-Three Festival or something?

The temple belonged to Tiantai Sect but was transferred to Caodong Chan School in 1429.
