Virtual Mogami 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #31 Kosei-ji Temple
Hosokawa Naomoto (?-1581) ruled the Oguni Valley in Mogami County, Ideha Province. Hosokawa Akiuji (?-1352) was appointed as the Guardian Samurai of Mutsu Province. Although Akiuji never lived in the province, he might have dispatched his relatives there. Naomoto could have been an offspring of them.
The Oguni Valley was separated from the other part of Idea Province by Semi Gorge, and produced good horses. Accordingly, Horse-Headed Hayagriva was enshrined. It is believed that the main original deity was made in 863, and its exhibition deity was made in the 15th century. It is unknown whether the original one was enshrined in the valley before the arrival of the Hosokawa Family or was brought by the family. The exhibition could have been brought by the family.
