Virtual Tama Aqueduct Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #8 Monsho-bo Temple
Nothing is known about the history of Monsho-bo Temple and its whereabouts.
As Tama Aqueduct Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #7 Keigan-ji Temple in Iwado Village was a branch temple of #10 Keigan-ji Temple in Kitami Village, #8 Monsho-bo Temple must have been somewhere between the 2 temples.
On the border between Iwado and Kitami Villages, there stands a Nenbutsu-sha, namely Nianfo Wheel, which is usually a stone monument with a hexagonal stone wheel at the head of the monument. Each side of the hexagon has “Namo Amitabhaya Buddhaya” on it. As you turn the wheel once, you can efficiently and speedily repeat the phrase 6 times. As you twirl around the wheel, .....
The Nenbutsu-sha on the border between Iwado and Kitami Villages was built by a Nianfo group of women. A Koshin Tower, namely Metal Monkey (57th term of the sexagenary cycle、e.g. 1920、1980、2040) Tower, stands by the monument. Monsho-bo Temple might have been one of those religious structures.
