Virtual Tama Aqueduct Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #6 Myojo-in Temple

Myojo-in Temple was founded by Priest Taijun in 1530.

In 1529, internal conflicts broke out both over succession to the Kanto Deputy Shogun and to the Regent of the Kanto Deputy Shogunate.

On May 30th, Ashikaga Haruuji (1508-1560) attacked Ashikaga Takamoto (1485-1535), the Koga Kanto Deputy Shogun.  On June 9th, 1531, Takamoto finally retired.

On September 22nd, 1529, Uesugi Norimasa (1523-1579) rose up in treason against Uesugi Norihiro (?-1551), the Regent of the Kanto Deputy Shogunate.  On September 3rd, 1531, Norihiro evacuated to Miyahara, Kazusa Province.

Whether they liked it or not, local low-ranking samurai were involved in internal strife among high-ranking samurai and they needed something to rely on.

Myojo-in Temple was revived by Priest Gigen (?-1731).  The temple might have suffered a certain disaster in the 1720's.
