Virtual Kawabe 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #17 Saiun-ji Temple

 

     Saiun-ji Temple was founded in Tomatsu Village, Kawabe County, Settsu Province, before the middle of the 16th century.  The village was first documented in 1594, but Tomatsu Manor was first documented in 1157.  The manor was owned by Fujiwara Yorinaga (1120-1156).  After he was killed in the Hogen Rebellion in 1156, it was owned by Emperor Go-Shirakawa (1127-1192).
