Virtual North Kawachi 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #21 Unrin-ji Temple

It is unknown when Unrin-ji Temple was founded in Kisaichi Village.

Temariuta, namely Hand Ball Song, is a kind of children's song or play song to which girls sing along as they bounce a ball with their hands.  Many villages used to have their own local temariuta.  In Kisaichi Village, its girls used to sing:

Saitaka saitaka Sainen-ji

Uitaka uitaka Unrin-ji

Matsu-no takara-no Shoho-ji

Bloomed? Bloomed? Sainen-ji

Floated? Floated? Unrin-ji

Pine tree's Treasure's Shoho-ji

That means Unrin-ji Temple was one of the 3 most popular Buddhist temples in the village.
