Virtual Shonai 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #32 Kichijo-ji Temple

When Daihoji Mochiuji was sick in bed in 1346, Priest Shikaku stayed in Churen-ji Temple.  Mochiuji asked the priest to say a prayer for his recovery.  Shikaku turned down his request, saying he wasn't a shaman.  As Mochiuji asked over and over again, the priest finally said a prayer, which cured Mochiuji's illness.  Mochiuji built a temple at the foot of Mt. Hokari.  Years later, it was moved to its present place because foxes and wolves did harm to the temple.

The Muto or Daihoji Family's headships were handed down as follows: Muto Ujihira  - Moriuji - Ujikage - Daihoji Akiuji - Nagamori - Morouji - Chikajui - Mochiuji - Noriuji - Kiyouji - Takeuji - Masauji - Sumiuji - Ujitoki - Harutoki (1512-1541) - Yoshimasu (1522-1581) - Yoshiuji (1551-1583) - Yoshioki (1554-1587).  As Muto Ujihira lived at the turn of the 13th century, Mochiuji's living in the middle of the 14th century makes sence.
