Virtual Adachi Bando 33 Kannon Pilgrimage (the South) #14 Yotsuya-Kannon-do Temple
It is unknown when Kannon-ji Temple was founded in Yotsuya Hamlet, Tajima Village, Adachi County, Musashi Province. It is also unknown when the hamlet became an independent village, and when and why it was merged by Tajima Village again. When Mamiya Kotonobu (1777-1841) compiled the New Topography and Chronology of Musashi Province at the beginning of the 19th century, the temple and the village existed. Strangely, the temple's main deity was Acalanatha but not Arya Avalokitesvara, who is the human-figure prototype of the other 6 metamorphoses. The temple was abolished after the Meiji Restoration with its Kannon-do hall, graveyard, and Inari shrine left. The hall enshrines Arya Avalokitesvara and Acalanatha.
