Virtual Adachi Bando 33 Kannon Pilgrimage (the South) #12 Numakage-Kannon-do Temple
It is unknown when Hirota-ji Temple was founded by Priest Ryogi (?-1545). The oldest document about the temple dates back to 1508.
The Chokyo War was fought in the Kanto Region from 1487 to 1505 between the Yamanouchi-Uesugi and Ogigayatsu-Uesugi Families. The Battle of Tachikawanohara broke out on November 13th, 1504. The battle was the final showdown between Uesugi Akisada (1454-1510), who was the head of the Yamanouchi-Uesugi Family, and Uesugi Tomoyoshi (1473-1518), who was the head of the Ogigayatsu-Uesugi Family. It didn't matter which side won. The Chokyo War caused the Uesugi Clan to decline, left the Kanto Region further in confusion, and attracted Ise Shinkuro (1432-1519), who wanted to become a warring-states-period hero.
In 1539, heavy rains, floods, and locust plagues caused famines in various parts of Japan, and heavy rains and floods again occurred in the next spring. A large-scale famine occurred in Japan in 1540. Hojo Ujiyasu (1515-1571), Uesugi Norihiro (?-1551), the Regent of the Kanto Deputy Shogunate and the 14th head of the Yamanouchi-Uesugi Family, Uesugi Tomosada (1525-1546), the 14th head of the Ogigayatsu-Uesugi Family, and Takeda Nobutora (1494-1574), the lord of the Kai Province, were all busy fighting battles one another and didn't aid their affected people.
