Virtual Adachi Bando 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #6 Kannon-ji Temple

It is unknown when Obari Village was developed in Adachi County, Musashi Province.  The village was located along the southern bank of Ayase River on Omiya Plateau.  It is unknown when Kannon-ji Temple was founded in the village.  In the Edo Period, all the families in the village belonged to the temple.

The precincts have a main hall which enshrines Arya Avalokitesvara, who is the human-figure prototype of the other 6 metamorphoses, and a Kannon-do hall which enshrines Horse-Headed Hayagriva.  March 1st is the festival day for the Hayagriva image.  In the Edo Period, horse breeders gathered on the day from rather far away with their horses decorated.  It is unknown which is the #6 deity of the Adachi Banco 33 Kannon Pilgrimage.
