Virtrual Shinobu Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #5 Akagi-Kannon-do Hall
It is unknown when Kannon-in Temple was founded in Akagi. It was abolished with Akagi-Kannon-do Hall left.
Akagi and its surrounding area used to be under the sea in ancient times. It is supposed that the Sakitama Port used to be in the area. 2 poems depicted the area in the Collection of Ten Thousand Leaves, which was compiled sometime in the 8th century:
Even if a boat moored at Sakitama Port is hit by strong winds
And the winds break its rope,
Please don't break your words.
The ducks in the Ozaki Swamp in Sakitama flapped their wings.
They seem like flapping their wings
To dispel the frost on their tails.
Even in the Edo Period, they used the dig-up construction method to develop rice fields. In the method, they dug up mud in swamps and developed rice fields which looked like the teeth of a comb.
