Virtual Tama Aqueduct Bando 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #10 Kongo-ji Temple

Kongo-ji Temple was founded by Kasuya Yoemon (1620) sometime between 1598 and 1614, utilizing the hermitage which had been built by Priest Shoku in 1284.

The Kasuya Family was started by Fujiwara Motokata, one of the sons of Yoshikata, who became Senior Fifth Rank, Upper Grade, the 11th in the Japanese court ranks, in 853.

Motokata moved to Kasuya Manor, Osumi County, Sagami Province.  The main members of the family were all killed in Jokyu War in 1221.

Priest Shoku happened to stay in Norata Village, Ebara County, Musashi Province, chose a holy place, invited Bhaisajyaguru, and built a hermitage.

After the collapse of the Later Hojo Clan, Kasuya Yoemon, who had been the Kira Family, who had been subject to the Later Hojo Clan, retreated to Genmaki Village in the same county.  Later, his family developed Norata Village.  He died on March 21st, 1620.
