Virtual Tama Aqueduct Bando 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #7 Shinpuku-ji Temple
It is unknown when Shin’nyo-in Hall was built for the purpose of Yoga training. Sometime between 1558 and 1573 by Priest Soen (?-1578), supported by Iida Zusho (?-1573), transferred the hall into a temple and named it Shinpuku-ji. Some say the place name Yoga comes from Yoga training.
In 1803, the temple burned down in fire. It took nearly a decade for the 17th priest, Seiban, to rebuild the temple.
