Virtual Musashi 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #2 Chisho-in Temple

 

     It is unknown when Chisho-in Temple, which enshrines a statue of Arya Avalokitesvara, who is the human-figure prototype of the other 6 metamorphoses, was founded.

     The Musashi 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #1 Enmei-ji Temple was founded at the turn of  the 14th century.  As the area was developed, the population of Hiranuma Village increased and 3 hamlets were formed in the village: Kami, Naka, and Shimo (literally Upper, Middle, and Lower).  3 Temples were founded in the 3 hamlets, and Chisho-in Temple was founded in Naka Hamlet.
