Virtual Musashi 33 Kannon Pilgrimage

Musashi 33 Kannon Pilgrimage was organized by Shinoda Tarobe and Tamura Monzaemon of Yoshikawa Village, Katsushika County, Shimousa Province, in 1697.  The pilgrimage was a copy of the Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage and was the second oldest next to the Old Kasai 33 Kannon Pilgrimage.  In the Edo Period, the western half of Katsushika County was traded to Musashi Province.  Although it was named Musashi, the pilgrimage covers only a tiny part of the province, 225 square kilometers.  As such, some Avalokiteshvara statues are enshrined in community centers and private houses.
