Virtual Akata 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #29 Kobayashi Shintaro’s House

The Akata 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #29 deity is located in Sodefuri Akata, Yurihonjo, Akita 015-0023, and was taken care of by Kobayashi Shintaro when the pilgrimage was organized.

According to legend, Sakanoue Tamuramaro (758-811) pursued northern foreigners in Ideha Province and came to the mountains of Kameda.  He found his army in difficulty as a thick fog blocked their views.  He closed his eyes, folded his hands together and prayed to the gods.  After a while, when he opened his eyes, the fog immediately cleared and the sunlight shone brightly.  Tamuramaro was so happy that he raised his sleeves and bowed.  In honor of this, the mountains were named Sodefuri, namely Sleeve Waved.  After the northern foreigners were subjugated, Gassan Shrine was founded.  It’s just a legend, and Tamuramaro fought only in Mutsu Province but not in Ideha Province.  However, troops of the Imperial Army could have invaded the mountains of Kameda as farmer-soldiers.
