Virtual Akata 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #27 Yahagi Denbe’s House

 

     The Akata 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #27 is located in Koezukuri Akata, Yurihonjo, Akita 015-0023, where Tsuchimoto River meets its main stream, Akata River.  The deity was taken care of by Yahagi Denbe when the pilgrimage was organized.

     Koezukuri literally means Excreta Production.  Koezukuri borders on Kusaizawa, which is the name of another small branch of the Akata River next to Tsuchimoto River.  Kusaizawa means Bad-smelling Mountain Stream.  What were the locals doing in those places?
