Virtual Kameda Domain 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #26 Mansho-ji Temple

Mansho-ji Temple is said to have been founded in Kitanome Village in the 14th century.  As Omono River flooded a couple of times, Kitanome Village itself, however, moved.  Today's Mansho-ji Temple was founded or revived in 1606 by Kato Mitsukatsu, a vassal of Tateoka Mitsushige (1547-1639), as a branch of Zenpo-ji Temple in Tsuruoka.  Mitsushige was subject to Mogami Yoshimitsu (1546-1614), who rebuilt Daihoji Fortress into Tsurugaoka Castle in 1603.

In 1406, Mogami Mitsukuni, the 4th son of Mitsunao (?-1413), took over Tateoka Fortress and called his family Tateoka, namely Fortress Hill.  The Tateoka Family was based in the fortress for 7 generations, 189 years.  The 7th lord, Mitsushige, seized Yuzawa Fortress in Akita, and moved there.

Anyway, Kitanome Village was the exclave of the Kameda Domain along Omono River.  Was the village something like "colonies in antiquity" for the Ando Pirates?
