Virtual Kameda Domain 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #25 Shogen-ji Temple

 

     It is unknown when Shogen-ji Temple was founded in Asada Village along Kimigano River.

     The middle reaches of Kimigano River had 5 villages: Tanaka, Sakurazawa, Kubo, Yamazaki, and Asada Villages from east to west, or from the upper to the lower.

     Shogen-ji Temple seems to have been the only Buddhist temple in the 5 villages.  Probably, Shogen-ji Temple was founded to carry out the danka system in the Kameda Domain.
