Virtual Honjo Domain 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #3 Daizo-ji Temple
Daizo-ji Temple was founded by Ishizawa Magoshiro in Koyada Yagyu, Yurihonjo, Akita 015-0088, in 1394. The Ishizawa Family also founded Shinmei-sha Shrine in the year and built Ishizawa-date Fortress.
In 1590, Ishizawa Jiro's income was reduced to 398 koku. In 1600, the family's income was reduced to 200 koku. In 1622, the family had to move out of Ishizawa Fortress.
In 1625, Daizo-ji Temple was moved to its present place. In 1791, all the temple buildings were destroyed by the fire. They were rebuilt but were burned down in the fire again on March the 30th, 1973. The temple's reconstruction was finished on November 1st, 1980.
