Virtual Kesen 33 Kannon Pigrimage #15 Furuyashiki Kannon-do Hall

Ube Naoyoshi was a defeated, fleeing warrior of the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600.  He was from Uto Castle.  He arrived at Shimoarisu Village, Kesen County, Mutsu Province.  The village had a few rice fields and was heavily dependent on forestry.  He changed his name to Yoshida Masayoshi.

In 1600, Konishi Yukinaga (1558-1600) was the lord of Uto Castle.  It is unknown whether Naosyohi was locally hired or was brought by Yukinaga, who was from Sakai, Izumi Province.

Naoyoshi/Masayoshi had brought the image of Cintamanicakra, who usually has 6 arms and holds chintamani (a wish-fulfilling jewel) in one of the six, and enshrined it in Shimoarisu Village, building a hall for it.

Later, the image was moved to Chokei-ji Temple, and Tsukiyama Shrine was founded where the image used to be enshrined.
