Virtual Saitama City Chichibu 34 Kannon Pilgrimage #11 Kannon-do Hall

The village name Kizaki was first recorded sometime between 1555 and 1558.  Kajiwara Masakage (1548-1615) gave part of Kizaki Village to Mito Juro.

In the same block of today, there are remains of the Jomon Period before the 3rd century B.C.  The remains include pit dwellings, earthen vessels, earthen figures, stone arrowheads, stone sticks, and comma-shaped beads.  The dwellings surrounded the hollow.  The remains are called the Maekubo Site, literally Frontal Hollow Site.

The hall enshrines Arya Avalokitesvara, who is the human-figure prototype of the other 6 metamorphoses, and has a small graveyard around it.

Address: 5 Chome-6 Kizaki, Urawa Ward, Saitama, 330-0042
