Virtual Musashi 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #3 Fumon-in Temple

It is unknown when Fumon-in Temple, which enshrines an eleven-faced Ekadasamukha, was founded.

The Musashi 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #1 Enmei-ji Temple was founded at the turn of  the 14th century.  As the area was developed, the population increased, and Seki Village was formed.  Fumon-in Temple seems to have been founded in the village as their family temple under Enmei-ji Temple with a Katori Shrine in its precincts as their village shrine.

"Seki" means a checkpoint.  The Kanto Region has 45 place names with "seki" in them.  There could have been a checkpoint in the village between the Edo Bay and the inland waterways.
