Virtual Old Kasai 33 Kannon Pilgrimage

Kasai 33 Kannon Pilgrimage was the oldest copied Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage in Edo.  It was organized by Priest Josei in the western half of  Katsushika County in 1688.

In Ancient Japan, Katsushika County was organized under Shimousa Province in the estuary of Ara, Tone, and Watarase Rivers.  At the beginning of the Edo Era, the western half was included in Edo, thus in Musashi Province, and the eastern half remained in Shimousa Province.  Presumably, the Tokugawa Shogunate wanted the area under the direct control not only practically but also nominally.
