Virtual Kako County Bando 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #12 Jizo-do Hall

 

     The exact date when Jizo-do Hall was built in Kako Shinmura, Kako County, Harima Province, is unknown. However, the village itself was developed after 1660. Since the Kitashinden area was developed first, Jizo-do Hall might have been built in the 1660s as the oldest religious facility in the new village. This situation supports the hypothesis that the stations of the Kako County Bando 33 Kannon Pilgrimage were mostly located at small local facilities rather than major, independent temples.

     In Kamishinden, Kannon-do Hall was likely replaced by a modern community center, while in Kitashinden, Jizo-do Hall coexists with a modern community center. This reflects the historical continuity of the local community.
