Virtual Upper Tada Manor 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #19 An'yo-ji Temple
It is unknown when An’yo-ji Temple was founded in Tsukinami Village. Fukusho-ji Temple and An’yo-ji Temple are very close. As Fukusho-ji Temple belongs to Caodong Chan School and An’yo-ji Temple belongs to Pure Land Buddhism, they have coexisted in religious belief. It is unknown whether they were based on different social classes or just on belief. Caodong Chan School became popular among samurai after the Kamakura Shogunate, and Pure Land Buddhism was believed by the Tokugawa Shogunate. Both the temples could have relied on the samurai in Tsukinami Village.
Anyway, An’yo-ji Temple could have been founded later than Fukusho-ji Temple.
