Virtual Kawabe 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #8 Anraku-in Temple

Anraku-in Hermitage was first built in 713 as a Buddhist religious site.  When Gyoki organized 49 Buddhist temples between 729 and 749 in Yamato, Yamashiro, Settsu, Kawachi, and Izumi Provinces, the hermitage was included in the 49 and became Anrau-in Temple.

The main deity of Anraku-in Temple was found drifting in the sea off Daimotsucho, Amagasaki, Hyogo 660-0823, and is believed to have been made by Visvakarman in India.

The place name Senzo literally means Thousand Monks.  Gyoki is believed to have held a Puja, or Buddhist religious ceremony, with a thousand monks in today's Senzo, Itami, Hyogo 664-0898.
