In 1659, Shigekane invited Yinyuan to transfer Shorin-ji Templed to Obaku Chan School, renaming it Butsunichi-ji.  In 1661, Yinyuan's disciple, Huilin Xingji, who was from Fuqing, Fujian Province, China, and who was the 3rd head priest of Manpuku-ji Temple, was appointed as the first priest.  In 1680, Gaoquan Xingdun, who was also from Fuqing, and who was the 5th priest of Manpuku-ji Temple, became the second priest.
