Virtual Kubota Castle Town 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #6 Manpuku-ji Temple

It is unclear when Manpuku-ji Temple was founded as a branch of Tentoku-ji Temple.

It was founded after Tentoku-ji Temple moved to its present place in May, 1625, in Tentoku-ji Temple's former site.

Tentoku-ji Temple was first founded where Oda Castle Ruins are.  In 1590, it moved to where Mito Toshogu Shrine is.  When the Satake Family moved to Akita in 1602, the temple moved to Kinshojiyama.  In May, 1625, it moved to its present place after it burned down in fire on December 27th, 1624.

Manpuku-ji Temple's precincts have the graves of those who were killed in Boshin War:

Okamura Mokunosuke, a spiner, was killed in Yashima at the age of 33 on July, 28th, 1868.

Tateoka Kotaro, a spiner, was killed in Yashima at the age of 48 on July, 28th, 1868.

Ishikawa Tadashiro, a spiner, was killed in Kakumagawa Village (today's Kakumagawamachi, Daisen, Akita 014-1413) at the age of 19 on August, 13th, 1868.

Saito Masaharu, a spiner, was injured in Kakumagawa Village on August, 13th, 1868, and died at the age of 21 in a military hospital in Yabase, Akita, 010-0975.

The later, the younger.  It was a war of attrition.
