Virtual Old Tsugaru 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #7 Hoon-ji Temple

 

     Hoon-ji Temple's buildings were constructed as follow: in the winter of 1656, the entrance hall, messengers' room, guest hall, large study, small study, audience hall and costume room were built; in the summer of 1657, the stone monument of Nobuyoshi, the stone monument for the 4 samurai who committed suicide upon the death of Nobuyoshi, two stone lanterns in front of the mausoleum, holy barriers, the wall around the whole mausoleum, and the gate in front of the mausoleum were built; in the spring of 1670, the Buddha hall, entrance hall, messengers' room and guest hall were re-roofed; in 1700, the Naka-no-hashi bridge was rebuilt, and the living room corridor, study room, bath house, toilet, bedroom, kitchen, firehouse, two wells, inner gate, inner bridge, front gate, gatehouse, front gate bridge, rear gate bridge, rear gate, front access fence, wall in front of the front gate, outer front access wall, and goma hall were also built.

     According to the Shinsen Mutsu Kokushi, a topography book of Aomori Prefecture, the goma hall where Acala is enshrined was located to the left of the main hall.  The Shinsen Mutsu Kokushi was completed in 1876.

     Tday?  The priest’s residential building seems to be located to the left of the main hall.
