Virtual Akigawa 34 Kannon Pilgrimage #24 Ryogon-ji Temple

 

     The history of Ryogon-ji Temple is unknown.  Its main deity is Bhaisajyaguru, and it has the Buddhist images of the Twelve Heavenly Generals, who are the protective deities of Bhaisajyaguru.  They are Kimbhira, Vajra, Mekhila, Antila, Anila, Santhila, Indala, Payila, Mahala, Cidala, Caundhula, and Vikala.  They are supposed to protect 12 directions, and are municipally designated tangible cultural properties today.
