Virtual Edo Bando 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #30 Shokaku-ji Temple

Shokaku-ji Temple was founded by Priest Hakugen(?-1670) in 1629.  He used the temple as a retirement home.  After the Edo Bando 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #33 Sanjusangen-do Temple was abolished in 1872, its old documents and thousand-armed Sahasrabhuja statue was moved to Shokaku-ji Temple.  They, however, were reduced to ashes in the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake.  In 1986, a half-sized miniature of the Sahasrabhuja statue was made, and it is enshrined in the Hagoromo Mausoleum across the street.

Shokaku-ji Temple used to have a Kannon-do Hall with plaster walls, so the #30 deity of the Edo Bando 33 Kannon Pilgrimage could have been the one which was enshrined in it.
