Virtual Tama River 34 Kannon Pilgrimage #14 Ryuan-ji Temple

Ryuan-ji Temple was founded by Priest Kuyo in 1593, 3 years after the collapse of the Later Hojo Clan.  It might have been founded to pray for the comfort of those who had been killed in the battles, or to create a job as a priest for samurai who had become masterless and jobless.
The temple has a Ksitigarbha statue.  Each family in the village enshrines the statue for a night at home by turns.  Thus, it is called the one-night Ksitigarbha.
