Virtual Ika 33 Kannon Pilgrimage #30 Torin-ji Temple

Toju-in Temple was founded in 1403, and was moved to the present place in 1406.  The temple is located deep in a ravine, with its Kannon-do building along Takatoki River.  The building is sometimes called Torin-ji as if it were an independent temple.
The Avalokitesvar statue was carved in 1216, far before the temple was founded.  It is displayed once in every 33 years.  When the statue is to be displayed, a pole will be raised with a cord hanged on it connecting the statue.  As you touch the cord, you will be blessed as much as you touch the statue itself.  Next time?  It will be in 2049.
